Networked-archival media represent a new kind of swarm. Neither forming an unindividuated mass nor entirely autonomous subjects, the organizational form of swarming media and the participants within its environment interact in multiple and as multiple. The discourse of and within the swarm grows from the collective and singular subject and extends through the network-archive.
Swarming Media exists to create a forum for the critical analysis and discussion of these swarming media. From blogs to dividuals, from affective labor to folksonomies, Swarming Media examines the discourse of, within, and about these media and their social, political, and cultural significance..
